Ian has a science degree in physics and an honours electrical engineering degree. Since graduating in 1986 he has continually worked in electronics and embedded software design. Having learnt the ropes of the design process including manufacturing at STC and Alcatel he then worked for a series of smaller engineering design companies and eventually set up Considered Solutions with Airdrie in 1996. Ian has a strong belief that attention to detail and in-depth checking of designs at every iteration provides fastest time to market and cheapest overall development costs. His wealth and depth of experience allows such checking across electrical, mechanical and high-level functional aspects of the system. Single pass engineering is the goal.
Airdrie is a Certified Professional Ergonomist and has a science degree in Computer Science, an honours electrical engineering degree and a Masters of Biomedical Engineering. Airdrie started work at Telstra (then Telecom) as an engineer then followed her passion for the safe and effective interaction of people and technology by undertaking a Masters specialising in ergonomics. She worked in the Ergonomics Unit of the National Occupation Health and Safety Commission (Worksafe Australia) performing research, consulting and teaching. She is now providing advice to a wide range of clients on all aspects of ergonomics and human factors but particularly in projects involving engineering and design.
